Social and outreach workers in Khatlon improve TB social support skills

On February 3-4 and 10-11, 2022, the Republican Public Organization “Afif” held two trainings in Bokhtar city on the topics “Social support for tuberculosis” and “Tuberculosis, prevention, detection, treatment, care and support”, within the framework of the project “Strengthening supportive environment and expansion of preventive and treatment activities to reduce the burden of HIV and tuberculosis in the Republic of Tajikistan”, with financial support from UNDP-Tajikistan, for social and outreach workers in Khatlon region. The main purpose of the trainings is to train the outreach and social workers of the project to actively detect all forms of tuberculosis and improve the skills to provide support within the framework of the social support program for tuberculosis.

At the trainings, UNDP-Tajikistan Program and NGO Specialist Sayora Ziyoeva, Director of the Center for the Protection of the Population from Tuberculosis in Bokhtar city Saidahmad Rajabov and Project Manager of RPO "Afif" Saodat Oripova told the participants about the main ways of transmission and prevention measures for TB, the situation with TB and DR-TB in the country, new modules and algorithms for TB detection, a patient-centered approach, methods of psycho-social support for tuberculosis patients, attracting clients to the program and improving access to services for people affected by tuberculosis.
